What does marketing mean to you?

For many, this term evokes a feeling of slimy, hard-sell tactics, designed only to make a sale.

But consider this: authentic marketing is about building bridges between people and the goods and services they need. At its best, it’s about connection, help, and support.

This is especially true when the service is something you not only need, but that you can trust and believe in.

Take Hopscotch Primary Care. Our mission is to provide rural seniors who qualify for Medicare with easy access to top-quality primary care services.

We believe in what we have to offer, and we know it can help many seniors who deserve a better healthcare experience.

Our marketing efforts help us connect with the people our services will benefit. Whether that’s you or someone you care for, Hopscotch invests in our marketing so we can show you what we have to offer and why we’re different from most primary care providers.

But we can’t do it alone. That’s why we seek out aligned partners to help us grow our mission and reach within the communities we serve.

We’re honored to collaborate with organizations like The Caldwell Chamber of Lenoir, NC.

As part of their mission, The Chamber works to empower local businesses and connect them with the community.

We recently chatted with Bryan Moore, President and CEO of The Caldwell Chamber. He shared what drew him to partner with Hopscotch and why he believes we’re uniquely aligned with his mission to uplift the Caldwell County community.

An interview with Bryan Moore of The Caldwell Chamber in Lenoir, NC

Hopscotch:

The Chamber has been a strong supporter of Hopscotch Primary Care since the Hudson clinic location opened. What inspired you to welcome Hopscotch so enthusiastically?

Bryan Moore:

I feel the Chamber should listen to our members’ needs and customize their membership rather than piecing them into a cookie-cutter situation. I care about the value proposition of each of our members. Our mission is to strengthen local businesses. By doing that, we strengthen our community.

From our first interactions with the Hopscotch team, I felt they were caring people with a great brand who weren’t just interested in selling something but in offering a necessary service to a very specific group of people. I don’t see that every day.

Hopscotch’s business model is intriguing to me because they’re laser-focused on their demographic and how they want to serve their needs. The brand is also successful looking, the people are engaging and friendly.

They’re just a game changer in terms of how they go about the business that they’re in.

The more I dive into how they do business, the more I learn and am surprised. I keep finding more things that are successful in what they do and all they provide.

Now, they’re ingrained in our community. They’re offering great classes and giving people the opportunity to come and discover who they are and what they provide.

I think there are so many people out there who can be well-served by Hopscotch who just need to walk in the door to see the difference they offer. The branding, the people, the culture, and the service are all there with Hopscotch. It speaks for itself once people get through the door.

Hopscotch:

What has been the general response as you’ve promoted Hopscotch to the community?

Bryan Moore:

It’s been very open and welcoming so far. We’ve had Clay, Hopscotch’s Outreach Leader, join me on my weekly radio program recently to answer some questions and share about Hopscotch with the community.

I think the more people get to know Hopscotch, the more they’ll continue to be successful here.

Our Chamber is working to share information from the Hudson location with the community. I believe it’s been received very well so far. We work to be a lynchpin between our members and our community and to benefit both.

Hopscotch:

How would you describe the value of having a healthcare partner like Hopscotch within the Caldwell County community?

Bryan Moore:

On a scale of 1-10, I’d say Hopscotch is about a 20.

It comes back to being a game changer. They’re changing the accepted mindset of how healthcare can work for a very specific demographic of people.

They want to help people see the fun and the joy of going to the doctor, as opposed to it being a task or a chore. I think that’s what I like best about Hopscotch. They know their target audience, they have a guarantee, and they have follow-through. They also make people feel valued.

My mom is 87 and lives in upstate New York. I wish I knew of a service like Hopscotch up there, so she could have access to it.

Hopscotch:

Why is what Hopscotch offers important to seniors in your community? How do they make a difference in the lives of seniors?

Bryan Moore:

Hopscotch brings together a trifecta of components that address seniors’ needs in this area.

We have a robust and growing population of seniors in our Caldwell County community. They need a lot of attention, and having Hopscotch here helps serve those needs.

The free classes Hopscotch offers invite people in, and the care they provide keeps them there. Then, they offer a long-term opportunity as a primary care provider, as opposed to more of an urgent care situation where the issues they’re dealing with are more immediate ones, and you have no relationship with them beyond that.

Lenoir, which is our county seat, is an official North Carolina retirement community. By offering Hopscotch as an option, it allows us to attract more people to this area. It’s a game changer when it comes to promoting quality of life initiatives.

Hopscotch:

You have a diverse background in marketing and hospitality. How does Hopscotch differentiate itself and stand out amongst other primary care providers in the market?

Bryan Moore:

Their business model is stellar. Their brand and easy approach are just so welcoming.

For me, partnering with Hopscotch was the culmination of how they market themselves and the ease of working with them. It was all so seamless. And then they back it up.

At the ribbon-cutting event for the Hudson clinic’s grand opening, Tim, their CEO, was there. We got to know one another, and he scheduled a Zoom call with me afterward just to chat and get to know me better. Most CEOs just don’t do that.

At the same ceremony, Chuck Dugan was there, and he spoke and made it so fun and welcoming. He has the greatest personality.

His approach was to say: “Look: If I’m not doing my job in helping you address your healthcare needs, you grab me by the ear and march me into our office administrator’s office.” That just resonated with me because one of my aunts used to grab me by the ear when I was seven.

He really connected with the crowd on their level. It took what I saw and made it come to life. It wasn’t just a marketing pitch. It was about real human interaction.

The Hopscotch brand does a good job of separating itself from being primary care versus urgent care. Once patients get in the front door, they realize it’s not the same thing they’ve come to expect.

Hopscotch:

Why is addressing the needs of seniors in rural communities so important?

Bryan Moore:

If we don’t do it the way Hopscotch is doing it, they’re going to get left behind.

Nowadays, with the way our communities are structured, we depend on our seniors more than ever. In many families, seniors are stepping in and helping to raise their grandkids. They’re investing so much time there that they may not have enough time to focus on themselves and their health and needs.

Our society needs to support our seniors. Hopscotch understands that.

Hopscotch:

Which of Hopscotch’s services do you find most impressive and helpful in your community?

Bryan Moore:

Their free classes are great. They get people in the door, and then the team can showcase what they offer is real.

What they offer is more than a marketing pitch. But sometimes people need to see and feel that for themselves. You have to back up what you say with results, and Hopscotch does that.

Hopscotch:

Are there any ways Hopscotch has surprised you in what they offer or how they show up to serve the needs of your community?

Bryan Moore:

They’re breaking the mold for what primary care can be. That’s why we’ve been so welcoming to them. It’s a really good brand for our community at this time.

Hopscotch:

Would you recommend Hopscotch to someone you love?

Bryan Moore:

Absolutely. I’m trying to get my wife’s elderly aunt to go there because I know she’ll be provided with care and love. I’m working on her about it. I want to just put her in the car and drive her down there so she can see it for herself.

She’s an avid reader, so maybe she’ll read this article and it will help get her over the hump and give Hopscotch a try. I know she can benefit from what they offer.

Hopscotch:

What do you and your team look for in aligned partners? How does Hopscotch fulfill this role?

Bryan Moore:

I always want to hear what our partners’ needs are. Once we identify their needs, I can apply that to customize how we help them.

We look for partners who will be a force for good in our community and who won‘t open this month and close the next. We want to partner with businesses that offer long-term solutions and benefits in the community. Hopscotch ticks those boxes and more.

Hopscotch:

How has partnering with Hopscotch deepened your commitment to serving the needs of your diverse community?

Bryan Moore:

It’s great to have options in a free market society.

What Hopscotch offers is an option I didn’t know even existed until Clay and the team came into our community. I didn’t know this type of service for a senior population was a thing. Having it in our community gives people a choice in their care. And I think a lot of people are making that choice.

Hopscotch:

What are some goals you have for the future in your collaboration with Hopscotch? How do you see your relationship continuing to grow to benefit the community?

Bryan Moore:

In the long term, I want to continue to listen and find avenues to help them get their brand in front of the people in the community who need them. I want to provide them with what they need to accomplish the work they want to do within the community. It’s a partnership, and we need to think about asking the right questions and listening, rather than selling something.

It’s never seemed to me like Hopscotch is focused on selling something. It comes down to the concept of giving a handout versus giving a hand up. Hopscotch is trying to offer a hand up perspective and help the community, as opposed to just opening their doors and being here. It seems very intentional.

I believe in the work Hopscotch does and what they have to offer the community.

It was wonderful to hear Bryan’s unique perspective on Hopscotch’s impact in his community. We’re honored to partner with him and The Caldwell Chamber to serve the primary care needs of Hudson, NC seniors and those in the surrounding Caldwell County communities.
